Super
Centrifuge is designed for the application of centrifugal
force to a mixture of two immiscible liquids suspended solids
heavier than either liquid. The mixture enters centrifuge from
an inlet at the base of the Machine and leads into cylindrical
Hollow Bowl which has two sets of outlets at the top to
discharge the separated liquids. This Bowl runs at 15,000 R.
P. M. and builds a centrifugal force more than 13,000 times
the force of gravity. This Bowl runs at 15,000 R.P.M. and
builds a centrifugal force more than 13,000 times the force of
gravity. This force separates the two liquid according to
their specific gravities into concentric cylindrical layers.
The light liquids is nearer to the center of Bowl and heavier
liquid forms the outside layer. On the other hand solids are
deposited against the wall of Bowl. This operation is
continuous and separated liquids being continuously displaced
upwards by incoming mixture, and discharge through their
respective outlets from the top. Solids layer which is being
accumulated on the wall of Bowl is cleaned out when machine is
shut down.
